Understanding RSS Feeds

What does RSS mean?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds are a 'stream' of live updates from a website sent to your computer. Most blogs and news websites have some kind of RSS feed incorporated into their site that visitors can subscribe to via a range of different software and web platforms.

What software can I use to view the SSV Latest News RSS feed?

Before you can subscribe to an RSS feed you will need to choose an RSS reader (also known as Aggregators or Feed Readers). There are a few different types of RSS readers you can use, the two main types being Desktop readers and web based readers. A desktop reader is a piece of software that is downloaded and installed onto your computer (often incorporated into other software such as Microsoft Outlook) whilst a web based reader is essentially one website that will allow you to store all your RSS feeds in one place (rather than visit each website individually).
