DTL Awards

Service Skills Victoria manages the Melbourne Airport Developing Tourism Leaders Awards aimed at students studying tourism, events or hospitality in Victoria.

The awards are an innovative employment development exercise for final year students to develop innovative small business/event concepts and business/event plans. Business/event plans are judged by a panel of industry representatives on the feasibility of the business/event, product innovation and knowledge of the tourism industry.

Food Safety Trainers Network

The Food Safety Trainers Network was set up to link up key stakeholders involved in food safety supervisor training across three training packages (THH02 Hospitality, WRR02 Retail and FDF03 Food processing).

The project objectives:

  • Improve the capacity of cross-industry training;
  • Improve the validation of assessment strategies in consultation with industry;
  • Develop and share cross-industry stakeholder intelligence.

Real Maths in the Classroom

SSV alongside with Kooweerup Secondary College, Pakenham Secondary College and the Victorian Food Industry Training Board are working to trial strategies to keep students with vocational aspirations connected with mathematics in the classroom. By providing students with real life situations in which maths will be used in their chosen industries the Real Maths project aims to engage students more directly in their fields.
