Service Skills Victoria - Skills for the Future

Wholesale Retail & Personal Services - Industry Advisory Committees

The committee meets on four occasions in a calendar year, including the SSV AGM, to discuss any developments within the WRAPS industries and to keep up to date with any new developments, projects or research being undertaken within the industry.

The IACs are a valuable source in validating data researched for the Skill Needs Report and often discuss relevant points that can arise from that research. It is a valuable opportunity to share concerns or perhaps learn about new ways of dealing with changes in demand or the face of the industry. The committee also provides input into training priorities, with this information passed on to Skills Victoria.

Project updates are presented to the committee at meetings to ensure members are up to date with work undertaken by SSV and are invited to provide input into those projects.

It is also an opportunity for IAC members to hear about industry forums and conferences often hearing reports from members who were able to attend, allowing a cross flow of information, ensuring they are up to date with any new material.
