The Right Way Program

What is the Right Way Program?

The Right Way Program is range of implementation products and services aimed at recognising quality skills outcomes and best practice. Through formal assessment, registered training organisations can gain industry recognition in three key areas:

The program is designed to align with training package qualifications and requirements to assist in delivering quality training outcomes and, as a result, improving the service industries' workforce. The Right Way program aims to:

Service Skills Victoria has signed an agreement with Service Skills Australia (SSA) to operate as the agent for the program in Victoria. Service Skills Victoria will be conducting assessments in the following key areas: Facilities, and Trainers and Assessors. At this time, assessment of learning resources will be managed directly by SSA.

Please note: The program is not compulsory and will not be substituted for an ASQA audit, however Right Way recognition may be considered as part of ASQA's risk management assessments.

Industry Recognised Training Facility

RTOs who adhere to the facility and resource requirements prescribed within the Evidence Guide of Training Package competency standards and more broadly in the Assessment Guidelines can achieve industry recognition of their training facilities. Each facility, positively checked by an industry advisor, will be an industry recognised Right Way Training Facility.

If you have any other questions regarding the Right Way Program: Industry Recognised Training Facility category, please contact Annika Hoffmann on (03) 9621-1777 or rightway@ssv.org.au.

Industry Recognised Trainer & Assessor

Individual trainers and assessors who have the required industry experience, current vocational competencies and a qualification in training and or assessment can achieve industry recognition as an Right Way Trainer and/or Assessor. To maintain this certification, they must participate in professional development activities and should elect to participate in trainer and assessor network activities.

If you have any other questions regarding the Right Way Program: Industry Recognised Trainer & Assessor category, please contact Annika Hoffmann on (03) 9621-1777 or rightway@ssv.org.au.

Industry Advisor

Engagement of current service industry practitioners in the assessment process underpins the effective operation of the Right Way program.

Industry Advisors, sourced from each sector of the service industries, are engaged by SSA or agent to:

Essential Skills and Experience

Industry Advisors play a major role in ensuring that any person or organisation granted Right Way recognition is meeting current industry standards. Currency of the Industry Advisor's vocational competence is crucial to the success of assessment outcomes for the Right Way program.

It is essential that Industry Advisors:

  1. Have relevant industry experience in one or more fields of service industry operation. This means they have actually worked in a job where they would have applied the particular training package competencies they will now use in Right Way assessment processes.
  2. Have comprehensive current knowledge of their field of the industry, current industry practices, various job roles and equipment and resources used on a day to day basis in service industry workplaces relevant to their field of expertise. This means they will be in current service industry employment.

Importantly, Industry Advisors' primary employer should not be a registered training organisation.

Expression of Interest

If you are an industry practitioner who wishes to participate in the Right Way program as an Industry Advisor, please contact Debra Kruske from Service Skills Victoria on (03) 9621 1777 or debrak@ssv.org.au.
